The collection contains 13 letters to University of Virginia club president T. D. Shumate including letters from J. Howard McGrath, Democratic national committee chairman and Stephen H. Harrington, National Truman Barkley Club Secretary, September-December 1948; 1-page report on club's activities during the campaign; membership list; 22 clippings; anonymous speech declaring that the Gallup poll predicting a Dewey win is incorrect; and a printed speech by Barkley on "The 1948 Platform of the Democratic Party." Also, two broadsides on voting, 1949, put out by the CIO Political Action Committee.
